Distinguished Rotary-Community Service
Wednesday Joanne Torfin presented Brian Behrens with a clock and certificate in recognition of his first place win as Distinguished Rotarian for Community Service. The award was announced last weekend at the Rotary Dist. 5580 Conference in Bismarck. Torfin was the only club member who was able to attend the conference.
The Park Rapids Rotary Club and individual members received six awards at the Rotary Dist. 5580 Conference May 12-14 in Bismarck.
Park Rapids Rotary was the only club in the district to receive the Inter-Organizational Service Award, primarily for its role in partnering with the Food Angels Weekend Backpack Program, Partners for Pianos and the Park Rapids Schools on the Fitness Park and a number of youth programs.
The club also received first place recognition for Community Service (clubs greater than 60 members), Fundraising (clubs greater than 60 members) and Total Annual Giving (based on 2014-15 membership).
In addition to Behrens' individual award, Joanne Torfin received third place honors for Distinguished Rotarian for Club Service.
